BREAKFAST G&T
This little “hello world” cocktail is a wonderfully decadent start to any day and makes an original alternative to the usual Mimosa.
Surprise Mum on Mother’s day (9 May, consider yourself reminded) by serving her a special breakfast that includes this Mother’s Day Breakfast G&T and a batch of gin pancakes.
Like most of my recipes, this one is so super easy (and quick) to make, but will leave a lasting and memorable impression.
I make this cocktail using gin marmalade, but any good quality marmalade will do – you don’t want it to go to a jelly in the cocktail shaker. You might also prefer using a lighter tonic water as the marmalade is quite sweet already.
INGREDIENTS:
- 100 ml Gin
- 2 heaped tablespoons of marmalade (or to taste)
- Tonic water – Light
SERVES 2
METHOD:
- Shake gin and marmalade in a cocktail shaker with ice
- Strain equally between two Champagne flutes – strain it twice if you prefer less orange bits
- Top with tonic water
- Garnish with seasonal fruit or edible flowers and enjoy
And hey, don’t wait for a special occasions to serve these up. I made them this weekend for our family brunch. Everyone agreed it was a deliciously boozy start to the Sunday brunch!
