GIN HOT TODDY!

GIN HOT TODDY!

Achoo (in a bent elbow).

It’s that time of year where everyone seems to be catching a cold!

I remember spending weekends at my grandparent’s place and if I was feeling a little under the weather with a cold, my grandpa used to make me a hot toddy. Over the years, I got to know how to do it myself and made a little modification too. Now, when my husband is sick and I don’t know how to help him, I whip up a hot toddy, and within an hour or so he’s feeling brighter and better. I am not sure if it’s the gin or the honey or the fact that a warm drink makes you feel better from the inside out, but it always seems to do the trick.

GIN HOT TODDY

INGREDIENTS – WILL SERVE ONE:

  • 50ml Gin
  • 50ml Boiled Water (or more if you like)
  • Runny honey to taste
  • 20ml Fresh Lemon Juice

“garnish with cinnamon and orange (dehydrated or fresh)”

METHOD:

  1. Add 50ml of gin to your favourite teacup or heatproof glass.

Top up 50ml boiled water. – more if needed.

Squeeze some runny honey in the cup and add 20ml of fresh lemon juice.

Stir and add your dehydrated orange garnish.

TOP TIP:

A cinnamon stick or two and/or star anise would also make delicious garnishes in this drink. I sometimes like to add a little orange juice instead of more honey for a little more sweetness if needed.

Please check with your doctor first before drinking this if you are taking medication for your cold.

You definitely don’t need a cold to drink this gin hot toddy recipe though, it is delicious for any chilly evening…

Ginjoy!
